A Coach Driven by Passion, Purpose, and Progress

I’m a Head Coach and leader who builds high-performance environments where players and coaches develop, perform, and sustain standards over time. My work is grounded in clarity, accountability, and long-term development — not short-term noise.

With over 23 years in football, I’ve operated across elite academies, senior teams, and leadership roles, including Head Coach, Head of Coaching (interim), Academy Manager, and scout. I design clear game models, align people to shared behaviours, and create environments where learning and performance reinforce each other. Players progressing to the professional game is not a coincidence — it’s the outcome of structure, consistency, and intent.

I hold a UEFA A Licence, the Advanced Youth Award, and an MSc in Sport Coaching. Continuous development is non-negotiable. The game evolves, and so must the coach. My approach blends tactical and technical clarity with a deep understanding of people, ensuring teams are adaptable, resilient, and aligned.

I work best in environments that value standards, challenge, and progress. Where expectations are clear, communication is direct, and leadership is lived daily.

My coaching journey began in 2001 at Oldham Athletic, where I spent 22 years within the Academy system. Starting at the foundation phase level and progressing into senior leadership roles gave me a deep appreciation of the responsibility that comes with developing young players — not just footballers, but people.

Across my career, I’ve worked with players from early childhood through to senior football, and across elite, grassroots, and semi-professional environments. I’ve supported players transitioning into first-team football, guided coaches through their own development journeys, and led programmes where adaptability and inclusion were essential — including the Northwest Under-16 Cerebral Palsy squad, where we developed England pathway players and won the National Championship.

These experiences shaped how I lead. I value relationships, trust, and individual expression — but always within a clear framework. I believe the strongest environments balance challenge with care, autonomy with accountability, and ambition with perspective.

Beyond football, my interest in other sports and learning environments continues to inform how I coach. I believe that broad thinking, curiosity, and balance strengthen decision-making and leadership.

I’m motivated by meaningful challenges and environments where people want to grow, not hide. If you’re building something that values development, alignment, and long-term impact, there’s an opportunity to explore what that could look like together.
